Child Life Workshop

An introductory workshop to learn more about the role of a child life specialist.

This workshop is open to high school juniors and seniors, college students, and adults considering a possible career change.

What is covered? - An overview of the requirements to enter the filed, including: 

  • Academic and clinical preparation
  • The journey from student to professional – what is required and what is not
  • Hear about experiences from students who have recently been through the application process 
  • Discuss your unique needs during afternoon breakout sessions

February 11 – Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas    
June 17 – Cook Children’s Medical Center, Fort Worth
September 16 – Medical City Children's Hospital, Dallas 
Nov. 4 – Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Dallas

General Schedule of Events

8 a.m. – Sign in for registered participants (onsite registrations are not accepted)
8:30 a.m. – Professional expectations and academic requirements 
10 a.m. – Clinical preparation 
12 p.m. – Breakout sessions
12:30 p.m. – Dismissal 

Registration Information

  • Please register for your preferred date directly with the hospital hosting the event. Contact information is available on the host hospital's website. 
  • Registration closes two weeks before the event.
  • Registration fee: $35 (breakfast & snacks are included)
