Mikhail Samchukov, M.D.*, is the research director of the Center for Excellence in Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction at Scottish Rite for Children. He is an associate clinical professor in the department of orthopaedics at UT Southwestern Medical Center and an associate clinical professor in the department of biomedical sciences at the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center. Dr. Samchukov is a graduate of Khabarovsk State Medical School in Russia. His primary research interests are in new bone formation and soft tissue adaptation under the influence of tension stress, as well as adaptation of distraction osteogenesis and histiogenesis techniques and computer-assisted preoperative planning and monitoring for fracture healing, limb lengthening, deformity correction and bone transport. Dr. Samchukov has been awarded numerous research grants and given many seminars and lectures. He is the co-author of seven patents. He has numerous publications, including five books, one multimedia course on CD-ROM, 22 book chapters, 56 journal articles and more than 200 abstracts.
