Volunteer Programs

Weekday Programs
The weekday volunteer program is designed for adults who are available to volunteer Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Volunteer shifts are typically morning, afternoon or both, based on the amount of time you have available. Depending on current hospital needs and your availability and interests, a schedule and position can be determined during your interview. Volunteer opportunities are available in most departments of the hospital. Our volunteers are a vital part of the hospital’s warm, friendly atmosphere.

Evening Program
The evening volunteer program is designed to provide a group activity for inpatients, siblings and family members Monday through Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Activities consist of playing games and sports, watching movies and participating in arts and crafts and outings in the park with inpatients. Evening volunteers also assist the information desk staff and help distribute linens and snacks on the inpatient floor. Volunteers provide fun and recreation to keep the children’s minds off of their medical care and provide family-oriented activities while they’re at the hospital.

Junior Volunteer Program
This eight-week summer program offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout the hospital for students ages 14 to 17. In addition to volunteering in various hospital departments, junior volunteers also organize a book sale that benefits the Legacy Scholarship Program, a separate nonprofit corporation that provides financial assistance to former TSRHC patients for college or career training.
