Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children to Host
13th Annual Treasure Street

Hospital's signature event to be held at Highland Park Village

(DALLAS – October 1, 2008) — Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) will host the 13th annual Treasure Street, a live and silent auction benefiting TSRHC, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 16. In addition to the auction, guests will enter into a magical celebration filled with music, live performers and exquisite food catered by the restaurants of Highland Park Village.

Hospital friends, staff, Treasure Street board members and event committee members will gather at Highland Park Village (at Preston Road and Mockingbird Lane) in support of patients at TSRHC. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on magnificent auction items, including a private magic show by legendary Las Vegas magician Simon Winthrop, exciting vacation packages, fine jewelry and an original painting created by TSRHC patients and local artist Christopher H. Martin.

The 2008 event chairs for Treasure Street are Gerry and Rod Jones. The honorary event chairs for this year’s Treasure Street are Tricia and Gil Besing.

“We are incredibly honored to be chairing this year’s event and are so thankful that we have had the opportunity to work with Highland Park Village again this year,” said Gerry Jones, 2008 Treasure Street event chair. “Their generosity and the support of our sponsors will ensure a first class event.”

Jackie Miller Stewart, president of Henry S. Miller Interests, Inc., is delighted for Highland Park Village to be involved with Treasure Street because of the quality of care that is delivered to patients at TSRHC.

“Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children has held a special place in my family’s heart for decades,” said Stewart.  “When the opportunity arose for Henry S. Miller Interests and the merchants of Highland Park Village to host Treasure Street, we were thrilled. It is a fun-filled evening of inspiration,
generosity and most of all support for the children and families who benefit from the amazing doctors, staff and facility that the hospital offers.”

Treasure Street was established in 1996 by a group of TSRHC patient families with children affected by Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). The event has grown from a small gathering to an outdoor gala under the stars with more than a thousand attendees, extravagant auction items, five-star cuisine and proceeds to date exceeding $5.8 million. To accommodate its growth and increasing popularity, Treasure Street, which was once held on the hospital’s grounds, will be held at Highland Park Village for the second year.

“The fact that Treasure Street has been able to impact both the Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic and the hospital in such a positive way and on such a large scale, is a true testament to the friends, supporters and volunteers of the hospital who believe so strongly in its missions,” said Dodge Carter, Treasure Street chairman of the board and a TSRHC patient parent. “We are thrilled to see something that started off as a way for our friends and family to give back, have such a huge impact on not only TSC research, but all aspects of the hospital.”
