Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children to Host
12th Annual Treasure Street
Hospital’s signature event to be held at Highland Park Village
(DALLAS – September 28, 2007) - Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) will host the 12th annual Treasure Street, a live and silent auction benefiting TSRHC, on Thursday, October 11. This year marks the inaugural year for Treasure Street to be the hospital’s signature event and the first time in the history of the event that it will be held at a location other than on hospital grounds.
Hospital friends, patient families and staff, Treasure Street board members, advisory, host and event committee members will gather at Highland Park Village, at Preston Road and Mockingbird Lane in support of children at TSRHC. Attendees and members of the community will have the opportunity to bid on magnificent auction items, including exclusive access to New York Fashion Week, fine jewelry, antiques and a painting created by TSRHC patients and local artist Christopher H. Martin. Restaurants located in Highland Park Village will donate all catering for the evening and Professor D will provide live entertainment.
In addition to the new location, guests at Treasure Street will enjoy several added features to this year’s event. All attendees will receive a shopping pass that will be valid at participating stores in Highland Park Village October 12 - October 15, with different incentives specific to each store. Also new this year, attendees may purchase raffle tickets and have the chance to win items including a Nintendo Wii, a PGA Golf Package and fine jewelry.
“We are so honored to be chairing this year’s event and we are so appreciative of our new partner, Highland Park Village” said Christie Scardino, 2007 Treasure Street event chair. “All the restaurants and retailers have really come together with extraordinary support, all with the common goal of making this year the best ever. We are also so excited to have Annette and Harold Simmons as honorary chairs this year.” The 2007 chairs for Treasure Street are Christie and Frank Scardino. The honorary event chairs for this year’s Treasure Street are Annette and Harold Simmons.
Treasure Street was established in 1996 by a group of TSRHC patient families with children affected by Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). The event has grown from a small gathering to an outdoor gala under the stars with hundreds of attendees, extravagant auction items, five-star cuisine and proceeds to date exceeding $4 million. Since it began, Treasure Street has been held on the grounds of TSRHC, most recently in Jas. F. Chambers, Jr., Youth Fitness Park. In order to accommodate its growth and increasing popularity, this year Treasure Street will be held at Highland Park Village.
“The fact that Treasure Street has been able to impact the Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic and the hospital in such a positive way on such a large scale, is a testament to its mission and so many generous friends, supporters and volunteers,” said Dodge Carter, Treasure Street chairman of the board and a TSRHC patient parent. “We are so proud to see how this event has grown, and that it will not only continue to benefit the treatment and research of TSC, but all aspects of the hospital.”
J. C. Montgomery, Jr., president of TSRHC, also acknowledges that Treasure Street has become a wonderful way to get the community involved, while informing them about the hospital’s mission in an entertaining setting.
“The hospital has been a part of the Dallas community since 1921,” said Montgomery. “We have treated more than 180,000 children and are now known as the top pediatric orthopedic hospital in the world. Treasure Street helps us increase awareness of this treasure for children right here in Dallas.”
