Edwards Fellowship
The Dorothy and Bryant Edwards Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Scoliosis is a full clinical fellowship that supports fellows in mastering the skills they need to manage pediatric orthopaedic and scoliosis problems. The program provides in-depth training in reconstructive pediatric orthopaedics, trauma and infections.

TSRHC Edwards Fellows
Fellows are frontline members of the patient care team at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. In addition, they help manage pediatric fractures and acute orthopaedic conditions at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, one of Texas’ only Level 1 pediatric trauma centers. Edwards Fellows at TSRHC will have the opportunity to:

  • Work in an interactive environment that supports learning
  • Gain clinical and surgical competence in complex spine, hip and extremity problems
  • Care for a wide array of pediatric orthopaedic conditions, including many rare or complex conditions
  • Learn from a diversity of opinions

In addition to clinical responsibilities, fellows perform independent clinical research appropriate for scientific meetings and for subsequent publication.

For more information about the fellowship, download the Dorothy and Bryant Edwards Fellowship handbook.

To Apply for the Fellowship
The Edwards fellowship is a one-year program that accommodates four accredited fellows.
A fifth accredited fellowship position is open to national and international applicants and is partially funded by the John and Ellen McStay International Fellowship Fund. The fellowships begin annually on Aug. 1 and are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Residents in orthopaedic surgery should apply in their post-graduate year 3 or 4. Others who have completed orthopaedic training may also apply. Because acceptance is competitive, applicants are encouraged to apply early in the summer or early fall at the Ortho Club Web site.

Dorothy and Bryant Edwards
The Dorothy and Bryant Edwards Fellowship is made possible by the Edwards, who were Texas ranchers and longtime hospital friends. The fellowship was established to create a legacy of providing exceptional education for young physicians.
