Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Dedicates
T. Boone Pickens Training and Conference Center
(DALLAS – January 28, 2009) – Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is proud to announce the dedication of the T. Boone Pickens Training and Conference Center. Longtime TSRHC supporter T. Boone Pickens, whose $8 million gift allowed the hospital to establish the center, was in attendance to help dedicate the facility named in his honor.
“We are so appreciative of Boone’s generous gift,” said J. C. Montgomery, Jr., president of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. “Our building is 30 years old, and we have been planning for this training and conference center for many years. The beautiful new facility will be an important part of our continuous effort to improve the lives of children through medical training, research and community education.”
The T. Boone Pickens Training and Conference Center, which occupies a renovated space of the hospital, allows TSRHC to consolidate vital activities of medical training, community outreach initiatives and patient education, serving thousands each year. Features of the facility include a physician training area, which provides meeting space to hold medical symposiums, continuing education seminars and other meetings for physicians and allied healthcare professionals. Video conferencing allows training groups to observe orthopedic surgeries being performed in the hospital’s operating room from the comfort of meeting rooms in the center.
In addition, a theater offers guests the opportunity to learn about hospital services through educational video presentations and puppet shows. Educating the public about TSRHC is crucial in order to reach out to families that may benefit from services and to raise funds to continue the hospital’s mission of providing the highest quality care for Texas children at no charge to patient families.
