Patient Access Department (Referrals)
The Patient Access department at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children maintains relationships with physicians whose patients may be accepted for treatment at the hospital. For patient referral questions or to refer a patient, physicians may:

The physician refers the patient to TSRHC. (See our referral guide for detailed information.)
TSRHC reviews the patient’s clinical notes and information.
If the patient is accepted, the family will receive a phone call and/or letter from TSRHC. If the patient is not eligible for treatment at TSRHC, the family will receive a notification letter.
The physician will receive a follow-up letter regarding the patient’s acceptance status.

What to Tell Your Patients
Upon acceptance, patient families will receive appointment and travel information by mail or phone. Information about travel and lodging and other helpful resources can be found on the During Your Visit page of our Web site.
At the initial visit to TSRHC, a patient can expect an evaluation by the medical team, a detailed description of next steps for treatment and the opportunity to ask any questions.
