Local 12-year-old Participates in Learn to Golf Clinic Designed for
Children with Physical Challenges

WHO:
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) patients, staff and volunteers

Allied healthcare and golf professionals 

WHAT:
TSRHC patients will participate in a Learn to Golf clinic taught by allied healthcare and golf professionals specially trained to teach children with physical challenges. Junior golfers will learn about golf safety, etiquette, driving, chipping and putting.  

TSRHC’s Learn to Golf program is designed for patients with challenging physical conditions. The Learn to Golf program provides the tools and instruction needed for patients to participate in and reap the rehabilitative benefits of golf.

Support for the Learn to Golf program is provided by funds from TSRHC donors, local businesses and individuals, PGA, Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation and a multi-year grant provided by the United States Golf Association to aid in the expansion and enhancement of the program. There is no charge for patients to participate.

ABOUT REBA ROBBINS:
Reba Robbins, age 12 of Kopperl, has been a patient at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) since the age of 9 and is treated for scoliosis. This will be Reba’s second time to participate in Learn to Golf. Her involvement in the Lean to Golf clinics have provided Reba an opportunity to be exposed to a new sport as well as give her confidence in her athletic ability. In addition to golf, Reba also enjoys playing volleyball, drawing, and writing stories.

ABOUT TSRHC:
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is one of the nation's leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. There is no charge to patient families for treatment at the hospital, and admission is open to Texas children from birth to 18 years of age.
