Local Child's Artwork Chosen for
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children's Annual Holiday Cards
Each year in July, posters and fliers are distributed through all of the hospital’s outpatient clinics, which encourage all patients to submit their artwork. From the many candidates who enter the contest, three card designs are chosen. Since 1987, TSRHC has sold these creative holiday cards to the public. Many consider these cards ideal to send to family, friends or business associates.
Gabrielle has been a patient at TSRHC since she was 4 years old. She is currently being treated for juvenile dermatomyositis, which is a disease causing muscle weakness and a form of arthritis. Gabrielle has a passion for art and uses numerous outlets to express her creativity. She recently learned to sew with her mother and creates matching dresses for her dolls. Although Gabrielle loves being artistic, she is also active in swimming, despite her arthritis. Gabrielle chose to draw a poinsettia in her art contest entry because it is a universal flower that represents the holiday season. Gabrielle’s friends and family know her to be extremely loyal and tender-hearted. Gabrielle is thankful to be a winner of the holiday art contest with proceeds from the holiday cards benefiting the patients treated at TSRHC.
