Local Child's Artwork Chosen for
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children's Annual Holiday Cards
(DALLAS — December 22, 2008) — Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) has chosen the artwork of TSRHC patient Grayson Wilson, age 11, of Houston, as one of three designs for its 2008 holiday cards. Sales of the cards benefit the hospital, which provides orthopedic care for Texas children at no charge to patient families.
Each year in July, posters and fliers are distributed through all of the hospital’s outpatient clinics, which encourage all patients to submit their artwork. From the many candidates who enter the contest, three card designs are chosen. Since 1987, TSRHC has sold these creative holiday cards to the public. Many consider the cards ideal to send to family, friends or business associates.
Grayson has been a patient at TSRHC for the past four years, and is currently being treated for Legg-Perthes, a condition in which blood flow to the hip is compromised, and the ball at the top of the thighbone is injured temporarily. After winning numerous art contests in his hometown, Grayson wanted to participate in TSRHC’s annual art contest. His winning card design was inspired by one of his favorite holiday activities, building snowmen. Besides art, Grayson enjoys playing baseball and participating in Cub Scouts. Grayson’s creativity added to the unique design of the card, and he is excited that proceeds from the holiday cards will benefit TSRHC patients.
