Child Life and Therapeutic Recreation 

Child Life
TSRHC’s Child Life specialists are here to help reduce your child’s anxiety about visiting the hospital. Our specialists are available to meet with your child before procedures and surgeries so they’ll know what to expect. Each patient and family is special, and our Child Life department strives to establish relationships that provide emotional and social support to meet individual needs.

TSRHC’s Child Life department offers internships and practicums each year that allow individuals interested in the child life field of study to work directly with child life specialists, medical staff and patients.

Therapeutic Recreation
The Therapeutic Recreation department helps children who have an illness or challenging physical condition develop skills and knowledge needed to be involved in the recreation and leisure activities they enjoy. The TR department provides an inpatient program to work with children staying in the hospital, clinic consults to work with children as part of their clinic appointment and community outreach programs to connect our patients to resources in the community.
