Scholarships & Funds
There are many ways to financially give back to the hospital and allow TSRHC to continue its mission of providing exceptional patient care.
Our Legacy Scholarship Program is an excellent way to give back to our patients as they continue their “legacy” of being a part of the TSRHC family. The Legacy Scholarship Program was established in 1986 as a separate nonprofit corporation governed by the Scottish Rite Masons of Texas for the sole purpose of providing educational scholarships for former patients of TSRHC. Since 1986, the program has awarded more than 1,700 scholarships totaling more than $2,225,000.
We also have a variety of funds that provide support to the hospital, including:
Allan Shivers Park Renovation - The Allan Shivers Park, directly across from the hospital, has provided a recreational haven for TSRHC patients, families and community members for 25 years. To continue to fulfill the park’s intended purposes a renovation is necessary.
Lark and J. C. Montgomery, Jr./Kathy and Tony Herring, M.D. Fund - A special friend of TSRHC committed $10 million to a trust in honor of President Emeritus J. C. Montgomery, Jr., his wife, Lark, and Chief of Staff Emeritus Dr. Tony Herring and his wife, Kathy. Hospital trustees also contributed generously to recognize J. C. Montgomery, Jr. and Dr. Tony Herring’s combined 66 years of dedication to the hospital. Designate a gift to this special fund to continue TSRHC’s legacy of excellence into the future.
L. Ray Lawson, M.D., International Pediatric Spine Fellowship – So that Dr. L. Ray Lawson’s years of dedication and tremendous accomplishments may continue to inspire and educate future generations of orthopaedists, the International Pediatric Spine Fellowship was formed. Please join us in honoring Dr. Lawson’s legacy with a contribution to the fellowship commemorating his life’s work.
Our Development staff would be happy to discuss giving opportunities. For more information, please call the Development department at (214) 559-7650 or (800) 421-1121, ext. 7650, or email email@example.com.
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children provides exceptional care to thousands of Texas children every year. TSRHC is not a United Way agency and does not receive state or federal funding. The hospital relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, foundations and corporations to continue its mission.
TSRHC is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; therefore, your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law. Please consult your financial planner or tax adviser to determine the exact tax advantages of any gift you are considering. We provide an acknowledgement letter, which includes a receipt that can be used to claim a tax deduction, for all gifts.
