The medical library intern at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children supports the information services offered to the hospital’s medical and departmental staff. The intern will work under supervision of the medical library manager and be exposed to a variety of activities involved in solo librarianship.
The intern must be enrolled in a master's level program of information and library science, preferably with coursework completed in medical library management. To meet the field experience requirement for the graduate degree, the intern and medical library manager will work together to select and develop a project that’s valuable to both the student and the hospital. The internship will include an introduction to consumer health librarianship through the Christi Carter Urschel Family Resource Center Library.
The intern is required to complete the hospital’s volunteer application process, including a background check and drug screening. For more information about the internship, please contact
Mary Peters, medical library manager, at (214) 559-7875 or (800) 421-1121, ext. 7875,
or e-mail Mary.Peters@tsrh.org.
