John G. Birch, M.D.
Dr. John Birch is assistant chief of staff and medical director of ambulatory care at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. He is a graduate of the University of Windsor in Ontario and received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Birch completed his internship at Ottawa Civic Hospital and his orthopaedic residency and clinical fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Ottawa. He served as the chief pediatric orthopaedic resident at the University of Florida and was a traveling visiting fellow at Newington Children's Hospital and Alfred I. DuPont Institute. Dr. Birch also completed the Harrington Fellowship of Pediatric Orthopaedics and Scoliosis at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Dr. Birch is a professor in the department of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Birch is a member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America; the Association for the Study and Application Methods of Ilizarov in North America (ASAMI-NA); and served as president of the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society (ASAMI-NA). Dr. Birch is also a fellow member of the Association for the Study and Application Methods of Ilizarov in Italy (ASAMI-Italia) and a member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association; the Dallas County Medical Society; the Texas Medical Association; the American Medical Association; the Texas Orthopaedic Association; and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Orthopaedic Section.
